Terms & Conditions

Effective 10 August 2026 · Version 1.0

In plain English

  • Guardian is a tool, not a treatment. It supports your own effort to cut compulsive porn/app use — it isn’t therapy and isn’t a guarantee.

  • The Commitment Lock is meant to be hard to undo early. If you turn it on, we won’t help you turn it off before it ends, and you’re agreeing to that up front. See §3.

  • No blocking technology is perfect. Determined effort can get around any of it, including the uninstall friction. See §4.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the price and interval you picked, until you cancel through Google Play. See §5.

  • You’re at least 18. This app deals with adult content by nature of what it blocks.

01. Acceptance & eligibility

By installing or using Guardian, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.

Guardian is intended for users 18 years of age or older. By using it, you confirm you meet that requirement. Guardian is developed by Muhammad Ali, an individual developer based in Pakistan (“we,” “us,” “the Developer”).

02. What Guardian is

Guardian is a self-directed app- and content-blocking tool for Android. It lets you restrict access to apps you choose and filters adult content at the network level, optionally locked behind a timer you set yourself. It is a personal productivity and self-control tool — not a monitoring, surveillance, or parental-control product, and not a medical, therapeutic, or crisis service. See §4 and §8.

03. The Commitment Lock

Guardian’s central feature is the Commitment Lock: an optional timer, set by you, during which protection cannot be turned off, apps you’ve already blocked cannot be unblocked, and the app resists being uninstalled (see §4 on the limits of that resistance). This is intentional — it exists so a decision made while you’re clear-headed can’t be undone in a moment of urge.

By activating a Commitment Lock, you acknowledge

You understand the lock will not be removable, by you or by us, before the timer you set expires — including if you change your mind, regret the duration, or contact us asking for an early release. We have no support mechanism to unlock a device early, and choosing not to build one is part of what makes the feature work.

Set a duration you’re genuinely willing to hold to. If you’re unsure, start shorter — you can always set a new lock once one ends.

04. No guarantee of effectiveness

We built Guardian’s blocking to be as resilient as we reasonably can on Android, but you should understand its real limits before relying on it:

  • Uninstall resistance is friction, not a lock. Device Admin makes uninstalling Guardian require a deliberate detour through system settings — it does not make uninstalling impossible. A sufficiently determined user can still remove the app during an active Commitment Lock.

  • Content filtering is not exhaustive. DNS-level filtering blocks known domains; it can’t catch content on unlisted domains, inside other apps, or reached through methods that bypass DNS (e.g., a separately configured VPN or DNS-over-HTTPS setup).

  • App blocking depends on Android permissions staying granted. If a permission Guardian relies on is revoked at the system level, that specific protection stops working until it’s re-granted.

Guardian is a tool that raises friction and supports a decision you’ve already made — it is not a substitute for your own judgment, and we make no warranty that it will prevent any specific outcome.

05. Subscriptions & billing

Guardian offers optional paid plans, billed through Google Play. As of this version: Yearly at $39.99/year, and Weekly at $6.99/week. Prices are shown, with plan and interval, on the same screen as the purchase button before you buy.

Auto-renewal disclosure

Subscriptions renew automatically at the price and interval you selected until you cancel. You will be charged again at the start of each new period unless you cancel before it renews. Guardian does not currently offer a free trial — you are charged at the time of purchase.

Cancelling is done through Google Play (Settings → Manage Subscription, in-app, deep-links there directly) — the same place any Play Store subscription is cancelled, and no harder to reach than starting one. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the period already paid for.

Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policies, since Google processes the payment, not us.

06. Acceptable use

You agree not to: reverse-engineer or tamper with Guardian to circumvent its blocking for someone other than yourself; use the app to monitor or restrict another person’s device without their knowledge and consent; or use it for any unlawful purpose.

07. Intellectual property

The Guardian app, its design, and its code are owned by the Developer. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that ownership to you. You’re granted a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on your own devices, subject to these Terms.

08. Disclaimers

Guardian is provided ”as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

Guardian is not a medical device, therapy, or treatment for compulsive sexual behavior, pornography addiction, or any other condition. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide clinical advice. If you’re struggling with compulsive behavior, consider speaking with a licensed therapist or counselor — Guardian is meant to support that effort, not replace it.

09. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Guardian — including any content you’re exposed to that the app failed to block, or any consequence of a Commitment Lock you activated. Our total liability for any claim relating to Guardian is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $20 USD if you haven’t paid us anything.

Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

10. Termination

You can stop using Guardian and uninstall it at any time (except during an active Commitment Lock — see §3). We may suspend or discontinue the app or any feature at our discretion, including if these Terms are violated, with notice where reasonably possible.

11. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, without taking away any consumer-protection rights you have under the mandatory law of the country where you live. If a dispute arises, we’d genuinely rather resolve it directly — contact us first at the address in §13 before pursuing anything formal.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Guardian changes. Material changes will be reflected in the app’s release notes and the version stamp at the top of this page. Continuing to use Guardian after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
